제2차 세계대전(1939-1945)은 대서양을 통해 유럽 전역과 아프리카 그리고 세계로 세력을 확장하려는 나치 독일과 이탈리아를 미국 등 해양국가들이 항공모함 등 막강한 해양력을 기반으로 포위와 봉쇄, 상륙작전과 공중 폭격을 통해 승리를 거둔 것이었으며, 태평양전쟁(1941~1945)은 천연자원과 물류의 보고인 태평양으로 해양주도권을 확장하려던 일본을 저지한 전쟁이라 할 수 있다.

World War II(1939-1945) ended in the victory of the maritime powers including the USA through siege, blockade, landing operation and air bombing on the basis of their enormously powerful maritime strength like aircraft carriers against Nazi Germany and Italy which attempted to expand their power into the entirety of Europe, Africa and the world through the Atlantic; in addition, the Pacific War(1941-1945) can be the one which served to form the balance of power by deterring Japan from aiming at expanding their maritime hegemony into the Pacific which was a repository of natural resources and physical distribution.
