The Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency affiliated to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries undertook marine investigation including surveying and marine observation, based on which it published sea charts (including electronic charts) and nautical publications that are being supplied to shipping and fisheries sectors, marine development and industries, as well as the military and various research centers. Moreover, through close cooperation with the International Hydrographic Organization and the East Asia Hydrographic Commission, it studies and defines waters under Korea's jurisdiction and registers geographical names to international organizations.
