The area of mudflats along the southwest coast of Korea is 2,393 km², which is equivalent to 2.4% of South Korea’s land surface. Oneof top five mudflat resources in the world is located in this region. The Southwest Sea and the East Sea, where cold and warm currents meet, possess world-renowned golden fishing ground while the heavily indented ria coast in the southern coast is optimal for natural ports with beautiful scenery matching that of the Aegean Sea.
