중국은 2011년 산둥성, 저장성, 광둥성을 3대 해양경제종합실험구로 지정하고 해양산업 육성에 박차를 가하는가 하면 항공모함을 건조하여 실전배치하는 등 해양력 증강에 열을 올리고 있다. 2013년 시진핑 체재 출범과 함께 국가해양사업발전 12차 5개년 계획을 발표하는 한편 9개 정부기관을 통합한 국가해양국을 신설하는 등 해양굴기 실현을 위한 노력을 계속하고 있다.

China│Hitting their stride in intensifying Maritime Strength
China is putting spurs to cultivation of the ocean industry by designating Shantung, Zhejiang and Guangdong as the three major ocean economy comprehensive experimental zones and also putting their energies to reinforcement of maritime strength by building aircraft carriers and doing combat arrangement of them. With the launch of the Xi Jinping regime in 2013, China announced the 12th 5-year plan for national maritime project development and they are continuing efforts to realize a maritime country by newly setting up the national maritime bureau.
