우리나라는 조선업 등의 활황에 힘입어 2011년 11월 30일 수출 5000억 달러를 달성하며, 세계 7위의 수출대국으로 올라섰다. 우리나라보다 먼저 수출 5000억 달러를 달성한 나라는 미국·독일·중국·일본·프랑스·네덜란드·이탈리아 등 7개국에 불과하다. 2011년 12월 5일에는 세계에서 9번째로 무역 1조 달러를 넘어섰으며, 사상 최초로 외환보유액 3000억 달러를 돌파하였다.

The Republic Korea rose to the 7th export power in the world by achieving 500 billion dollars in export on November 30, 2011 on the strength of business buoyancy in the field ship building industry. There are only 7 countries, such as the US, Germany, China, Japan, France, the Netherlands, Italy, etc. which achieved 500 billion dollars in export before Korea. On Dec. 5, 2011, Korea is the world's 7th nation to exceed 1 trillion dollars in trade and passed 300 billion dollars of foreign exchange reserve.
